Qualifications
Prof Ben Steyn is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Pretoria, where he has lectured for 40 years in the Department of Sport and Leisure Studies. He holds seven degrees, four in Sport Science, three in Psychology, and a Teachers Diploma. He is a counselling psychologist registered with the HPCSA since 1989. Prof Steyn specializes in high performance and well-being in sport and corporate environments. He has 55 peer-reviewed publications and has presented at 20 symposiums, 80 workshops, and 164 training seminars. His research focuses on the relationship between high performance and psychological well-being. He has prepared individuals and teams for international sport events and was appointed as a sport psychologist by the Sports Information and Science Agency of South Africa. His important publications cover psychological skills training, mindfulness training, and psychological well-being. He is recognized as a C3 researcher by the NRF.
